ADHD screening and assessment routes in Milton Keynes

Milton Keynes CAMHS publishes specific evidence requirements for child ADHD referrals. Adult routes and provider waits should be checked through the GP.

The short answer

For a child ADHD referral, Milton Keynes CAMHS says professionals must submit both its parent or carer screening pack and school screening pack. Incomplete referrals are returned. Adults should ask their GP about the current local service and Right to Choose options. Private assessment remains a separate self-referral route.

Child referrals need parent and school packs

Milton Keynes CAMHS says a professional referring a child for ADHD assessment must include its completed parent or carer and child screening pack and its school screening pack. The service states that referrals without both packs will be declined and returned.

Ask the professional making the referral to use the current CNWL forms. An ADHDassess report can organise relevant history and observations, but it does not replace the required packs.

Adult routes should be confirmed with the GP

Ask your GP which local adult ADHD service currently covers your postcode and what triage information it needs. If you want another NHS provider, you can ask whether Right to Choose applies to a clinically appropriate referral.

Check the provider's current age range, NHS contract status, assessment scope and treatment arrangements before asking for referral.

Treat waiting-time claims as dated snapshots

The NHS says ADHD assessment waits can be several months or years. Milton Keynes services do not publish one durable wait that applies to every adult and child pathway.

Ask the receiving service for its current position. Check whether an estimate means time to triage, assessment, feedback or medication, and note the date it was given.

Your available first steps

ADHDassess can provide a clinician-reviewed screening report for a GP or school conversation. It remains screening rather than diagnosis.

Private full assessment is a separate choice. NeuroFX accepts private self-referrals for online ADHD assessment, so someone in Milton Keynes does not need to travel to Bedford for the clinical appointments unless an in-person option is agreed.
